Russia has banned Jehovah's Witnesses after the Supreme Court ruled the Christian sect to be an "extremist" group. The Judge Yuri Ivanenko said “The Supreme Court has ruled to sustain the claim of Russia's ministry of justice and deem the 'Administrative Centre of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia' organisation extremist, eliminate it and ban its activity in Russia.” “The property of the Jehovah's Witnesses organisation is to be confiscated to the state revenue.” According to reports, a lawyer for the justice ministry, Svetlana Borisova, told the court adherents “pose a threat to the rights of the citizens, public order and public security". A statement by the GES indicates that over 800 teachers have applied for a change in their date of birth over the last few months. “Management of the GES is perturbed over the unprecedented number of GES staff requesting for a change in their date of birth resulting in various movements from their stations to the district and regional education offices as well as the GES headquarters. “To date, management has received and worked on over 800 applications on change of date of birth alone and this constitute a waste of quality time of management as it involves a great deal of scrutiny and referrals,” the statement signed by Director Jacob Kor said . A grave had been dug for a supposedly dead man in Western Kenya. Mourners had arrived, and the burial was about to take place. The man, Wilson Oluoch, had gone missing three weeks previously and when a decomposed male body was found in a sugar cane plantation, his family thought it was his. According to a report by the UK Mirror, shortly before the funeral someone told the family that a man who looked like Wilson had been seen in a bar in nearby Rongo. The family is said to have rushed to the bar only to find Oluoch drinking his sorrows away. His relatives also visited the bar and found motorcycle taxi rider Wilson still there, not dead but dead drunk as he tried to drown his sorrows. The Nana Addo-led administration would have the highest list of ministers and deputies to serve in any government since the beginning of the fourth Republic. President Nana Akufo-Addo has currently appointed a total number of 110 people to serve as ministers, ministers of state and deputies in his administration. This is the highest in the country’s history so far. Out of the total 110, 20 are Regional Ministers and their Deputies, 40 ministers for various ministries, with 50 deputies. By this number, the Nana Addo-led administration would have the highest list of ministers and deputies to serve in any government since the start of the fourth Republic. Mark Okraku Mantey, Music Producer and Programmes Manager of Hitz FM, has been appointed by the Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture to head the new Creative Arts Council. Mr Mantey would lead the Council, which was inaugurated Wednesday by Catherine Afeku, as its President.
