Following the appointment of Ghana’s former president, John Agyekum Kufuor as a Senior Grand Warden of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE), some Ghanaians who appeared shocked have begun wondering which other prominent personalities in the country are Freemasons. The popular belief is that many influential personalities, thanks to their success, belong to the group. But what is Freemasonry? Freemasonry: Ghana's former president John Kufuor appointed Senior Grand Warden at UK Freemason

Kufuor  was appointed by the United Grand Lodge of England Grand Master, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, who is the longest serving Grand Master on Wednesday. The former president of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor has been appointed a Senior Grand Warden of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). He was appointed on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 by the United Grand Lodge of England Grand Master, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, who is the longest serving Grand Master. The United Grand Lodge of England wrote in a Facebook post: "Congratulations to Right Worshipful Brother, His Excellency John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor, PGSwdB, former President of the Republic of Ghana, who has been appointed Senior Grand Warden by the Grand  Masted , His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent."
